Keith Morton Demonstration (A Portrait in Acrylic)

Rayleigh Art Group will be hosting a demonstration by Keith Morton on Wednesday 14th November 2012 at the Cedars Centre, Castle Road, Rayleigh commencing at 7.30 pm sharp. All RAG Members are invited and guests are more than welcome with a small charge of £3.00 including tea and biscuits.

Keith’s art education was gained during four years at Hornsey College of Art.
He is an enthusiastic tutor and believes that good observation leads to good paintings.
He now tutors Portraiture, Still Life and Life workshops, demonstrates Still Life and Portraiture to art societies, undertakes commissions, and paints people he admires. To date, his most famous sitters have been the jazz pianist and composer Stan Tracey OBE and the actress Siobhan Redmond.
Keith has been short-listed for The Garrick Milne Prize, exhibited with The Discerning Eye (2008, 2009), The Royal Society of Portrait Painters (2003, 2006, 2009, 2010, 2011) and The ROI (2010).

Keith is an experienced portraitist who has a straight-forward approach to painting.

During a demonstration or workshop Keith will talk about the basics of head construction and simple colour theory. He’ll pass on some useful tips for achieving a good likeness, and how how to keep a painting looking fresh and lively.

Portraiture is never simple, but employing a few of the techniques and basic rules that Keith will outline can help you to create successful likenesses.

Rayleigh Art Group AGM

Just a quick reminder that Rayleigh Art Group will be holding their AGM on Wednesday 24th October 2012, commencing at 7.30 pm sharp in the Cedars Centre, Castle Road, Rayleigh. This is your chance to vote for members of the committee and to have your say about how the club is run.

Following the AGM, which hopefully will be quite quick, there will be a great game of Trivial Pursuit together with Tea/Coffee and cakes. This is great fun and went down quite well last year – don’t be embarrassed as you will be part of a bigger team and your presence may just make all the difference!!

We look forward to seeing as many members as possible for the AGM, and their guests for the fun and games afterwards.
