Demonstration by Keith Morton

What a lovely way to spend an evening after a beautiful Autumn day.

Around 26 people attended this very informative evening of Portrait painting in Acrylics. Mortondemo

We were lucky enough to have a very pretty model, the daughter of one of our members, to sit for us. She was excellent and sat so very still for the whole time required.

Keith started with a primed canvas with a watered down wash of Burnt Umber. He then measured and made marks on the canvas in a watered down red, just measuring with his brush in thumb nail fashion.

Before our very eyes appeared what Keith described as a scaffold of marks which he could then work on. By half way through the evening he had lights and darks in the right places and a good structure on which to continue in the second half of the evening.

By the end of the evening there was enough done to the portrait to recognise the sitter and Keith said that it would probably take a week to actually finish a portrait and he would work from photographs to finish a picture as people obviously could and would not sit for that length of time.

Really nice evening had by all.
