Demonstration by Ken Kempley (Seascape using collage & mixed media)

Rayleigh Art Group will be hosting a demonstration by Ken Kempley on the evening of Wednesday 23rd January 2013, at the Cedars Centre, Castle Road, Rayleigh, commencing at 7.30 pm sharp. All members are welcome and guests are invited to attend at a cost of £3.00 to include tea and biscuits.

Ken began his working life as a commercial artist in London’s famous Fleet Street and having spent time in London Ken moved to the East Anglian coastKen Kempley and now he and his family live very close to the sea.

Although a career change saw Ken enter the business world of international commerce he still maintained his love and artistic links by painting for exhibitions and commissions and much of his work can be seen in private collections in the U.S.A. South Africa, Holland, Israel and the U.K.

Since becoming a professional artist some 12 years ago Ken has had several one man shows and has exhibited in many prestigious galleries in London and the South East.

Ken is a registered Society For All Artists (S.A.A.) and Art Profile Demonstrator/Tutor in Watercolour Acrylic and Collage and regularly demonstrates on courses and workshops at the famous Snape Maltings in Suffolk and to art clubs and societies throughout the East of England. Kens choice of a limited pallet and a “less is more” style and approach is inspired by his love of nature both in his figurative and abstracted works.

The Barren beauty of mountain, moor, and wetland and of course the sea are favoured subjects which present the artist with both the challenge and the opportunity to explore and capture such elements as atmosphere, drama, light and tonal contrasts, all of these elements are a joy to demonstrate and pass onto students and art societies alike.
