A Townscape in Watercolour” was the title of a demonstration by John Tookey on Wednesday April 10th at Rayleigh Art Group. John has a very distinctive style using mainly earth colours with just the occasional touch of a brighter colour. The town he chose was Cambridge. He lightly sketched in the details first and then in a very loose style quickly laid down his paint working mainly on the lighter areas first. He explained his methods and answered questions as he painted and by the end of the evening he had produced a street scene which included people, cars and bicycles.
A most enjoyable and instructive evening.
