For those of you who attended the demonstration by Kit Leese, here is the finished picture in Gouache, that is now up for sale.
Gouache, once known body colour, and used extensively by artist like Turner, is an ideal medium for painting detail in landscapes.
It is entirely water based, and can be diluted just like water colour, and used wet in wet to produce brilliant sky effects.
It’s versatility means that dry brush work across an already painted surface is very easy to do. Kit Leese uses Windsor and Newton Designers Gouache which has the same pigment as their water colours, and can be easily mixed with them.
